Helyn Gould

Helyn Gould is Deputy Associate Principal for Learning and Teaching at the University of Strathclyde.  Helyn provides the University with institutional-level leadership in the shaping and delivery of strategic priorities in Education, Learning and Teaching.  She has a specific remit for learning enhancement; continued strategic academic development; and digital and online education, particularly in the area of apprenticeships degrees. 

Helyn’s career has been focussed on technology-enhanced learning, leading international and institutional projects recognised for their innovation and impact, providing her with a front seat to the digital transformation of the education sector.  She has a particular interest in the value that Learning Analytics could provide to the student experience; the development of digital and Work-based Learning opportunities for all learners; and the role of data in tertiary education.

Originally joining Strathclyde Business School in 1992, Helyn is a highly experienced and reflective educator committed to involving the Student Voice in strategic decision making, with lecturing experience at every level and mode of university teaching.  With degrees specialising in Mathematics and in Operational Research she has taught a wide range of business analysis and business technology areas within her home discipline, in addition to lecturing internationally to MBAs on Strategy Development.   Committed to widening access to education, she is an enthusiastic advocate for lifelong learning and the transformational power of education in peoples’ lives and upon society.
